Jade was designed as a Multiple Document Editor, Jade is designed to beĀ advance enough to comprehend multiple file-types, user friendly with multiple documents, and contain a robust interface that parallels modern technology.

Much like many Open Source Projects, this project started as an ideal replacement to an already functional program and is intended to provide a user the same capability with advancements that will improve the application.

Jade is built on the Adobe Air application runtime, which gives Jade the flexibility, and extensibility of modern applications without the need of understanding a complex set of programming languages or internal programmatic structures that many of the big open source projects have to deal with.

The robust interface layer is designed to allow a user to view multiple documents with one application. A user can view documents without the need for creating multiple windows and complex overhead by using the intuitive tab interface. The interface is styled using a standard Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) which allows the application to be customized by various ‘themes’ created by Jade users and EGT clientele.

The programmatic structure is built in JavaScript (a traditional ECMAScript programming language) and can be easily extended by loading other JavaScript Class Objects which use standard calls for extensibility. Although this part of Jade is still undergoing development, it is proposed to be the number one way a document type can be supported by Jade.
