This will help walk a normal user through the General Installation, and the Specific installation Steps for each Operating System.

[edit] General Installation

If you have not already, navigate to http://4egtv.net/Jade and click the Download link at the top of the page. You will be directed to a page which will assist you in downloading the current release of Jade. After you have downloaded Jade, extract the zip file and double click on the .air file inside.

If nothing happens, or it asks you to associate this file with something, make sure you have the latest copy of the Adobe Air Runtime and be sure to install it on the machine you wish to run Jade.

If something happens, follow the on-screen prompts to install Jade.

For windows installation download the zip file. Right-click the downloaded zip file and select Extract. Follow the prompts to ensure the zip file is extracted properly. Open the zip file and double click on the Jade.Air file and follow the on screen prompts to install Jade.

By default, Jade will install itself for the files with a .txt extension and all EGT SmartSense File Types. To override this, simple after install open the files with your normal program and you should be prompted to make the program the default for the specific file type.

[edit] To Add a File Type to Jade

Right-click the specified file that has the extension you would like to default to jade. Select the command "Open with..." and select Jade from the dialog box. If Jade does not show up, select browse and navigate to the install directory of jade and select Jade.exe.

The file supported should sport a Jade icon in a blue page, or a Jade icon in a white page. If the Jade icon is in a white page, Jade was not designed to be the default unless a plug-in supports that specific file.

[edit] Uninstalling Jade

To uninstall jade, navigate to you program manager and search for Jade or Jade vX.X.X (the release numbers). Double click the entry or hit the specific 'uninstall/remove' button. Follow the onscreen prompts.

DO NOT ATTEMPT to remove Jade by removing the Adobe Air Runtime. If you remove the Adobe Air Runtime without removing Jade, the Jade files will still be present and will still be associated with the files. Instead find Jade and any other Adobe Air Application and remove them first. Failure to do so may make certain files corrupt and some programs may cease to function properly.

Go to the Control Panel and select "Add and Remove a Program" or "Uninstall a Program". Find Jade or Jade vX.X.X and select the button "Remove" or "Uninstall". Follow the onscreen prompts.
